Explore Rebranding Case Studies
Explore case studies for two rebrands and marketing projects we had the pleasure of completing. Each rebrand was thoughtfully developed into a brand that resonates with customers, staff, and other stakeholders.
Hammer & Wikan Rebranding
Hammer & Wikan is a 100-year business serving locals and a thriving tourism economy with three storefront locations in Petersburg, Alaska. With an upcoming centennial anniversary celebration, Hammer & Wikan needed to enter their second century with a cohesive brand that reflected their proud Norwegian heritage, established them as the market leader in their community, and relayed a sense of trust and friendliness to newcomers.
Development of brand positioning, logos, brand book, brand messaging including tagline and extended copy for three websites, and promotional product design.
We updated their branding with a light-hearted take on the classic Viking longship, paired with bold colors and a modern font that still retains some traditional flare. By taking existing way-finding signage into account during the creative process, we were able to update Hammer & Wikan’s branding in a manner that negated the need to replace expensive signage.
We also developed a suite of complementary “100 Years Strong” logos for use during their centennial year and designed numerous promotional products for brand cohesion.
All branding work, website copy and design, and promotional product designs were completed on time with a buffer for ordering and delivery prior to the big centennial celebration. The Hammer and Wikan rebranding committee was delighted with the final brand and appreciated the thoroughness of our efforts to achieve cohesiveness between all three stores and their corresponding online presences.

Brown McMillen Rebranding
Nearing their 50th anniversary, Brown McMillen Real Estate faced stiff competition from local brokerages as well as the increasing number of remote real estate agencies popping up throughout the U.S. With a primary goal of attracting new brokers to join the Brown McMillen team, our challenge was to develop a brand that reflected the agency’s 50-year legacy and deep Skagit County roots while portraying the agency as innovative and sophisticated.
Development of brand positioning, logo, brand book, brand messaging including tagline and website copy. We also developed graphics for office signage, brokers’ sale signs, consulted on office remodel, developed print collateral, and created a social media marketing strategy with a limited supply of content.
To achieve this balance between legacy, a sense of place, and sophistication, we developed a timeless brand that draws on the natural elements of the Pacific Northwest to seamlessly blend vintage with contemporary. To maintain the community’s familiarity with Brown McMillen’s updated brand, we refined and reused elements of their previous logos, such as the shape of Washington State, color palette, and the use of a script font.
The new branding revitalized pride and trust in the longstanding brokerage throughout the community, internal team, and industry partners. Brown McMillen achieved an uptick in broker applications resulting in a 20% increase in successful hires. All rebranding work was done ahead of schedule for their 50th anniversary celebration.
